Irish Gauntlet Dodging

Begin in groups of four or five, all in a line roughly five yards apart.

Play starts with the first player in line with the ball weaves through the other four players in the line who all are throwing ¼ pressure checks.  The ball carrier, once through the line passes the ball back to the player that is now at the start of the line.  That player is now the ball carrier and runs the gauntlet weaving and dodging through the line.  The drill becomes self replacing.

  • This drill is a simple skill drill that teaches players stick control and protection, and how to assess their defender’s approach and react.

Variations:  Ensure both hands are being used.
